This song is about something that happened to me when I was in the sixth grade.
soul jazz hip hop rb inst
I just want to be heard, man.
First and foremost, I am an artist and I cherish my craft. I can't play an instrument, but like my mentors (jazz greats of old) I hear and feel music, so I create melodies/harmonies by ear and soul. Everything that I create comes from my mind and heart. R&B was my first love, until it became watered down. I explored sound until I found comfort in instrumental music. Thus, I made my music home in Jazz, Spoken Word, Soul, Hip-Hop, and Blues. I have words in some of my music, but then there are times when a song and its title speaks for itself and I leave the words up to the imagination of the listener. I feel that all songs don't need words or titles. My stage name is aCe. It stands for 'a Christian example' on good days, and just 'a Common example' any other time. :) I was born Gregory L. Campbell in Charleston, MO just off the banks of the Mississippi River. You would think to hear of songs twinged with broken levee blues, but not so. I have a vast array of listening pleasures from rock to hip-hop. Mostly, I am a soul musician/artist. Enough from me! Please, "let my music do the talking."

Story behind the song
In the sixth grade, the group (2Funky) and I begged our chorus instructor to let us sing the hit song by Shai (If I Ever Fall In Love Again). My best friend was scared to sing the high note part, so I took it (unprepared and unpracticed). I screeched and the whole sixth grade class (teachers and students) laughed us off the stage and teased me all the way home. The high pitch voice in the song is me crying, while all the other kids are teasing me. It is also a triumphant song that states that I'm still doing it today no matter what anyone said about my singing.
