Dewayne's Farewell
Comment Share
I had a cousin whose voice was too large for this world. God called him home to sing for him on 4 December 2005. Rest in the arms of the Almighty Dewayne. You will be missed dearly.

I just want to be heard, man.
First and foremost, I am an artist and I cherish my craft. I can't play an instrument, but like my mentors (jazz greats of old) I hear and feel music, so I create melodies/harmonies by ear and soul. Everything that I create comes from my mind and heart. R&B was my first love, until it became watered down. I explored sound until I found comfort in instrumental music. Thus, I made my music home in Jazz, Spoken Word, Soul, Hip-Hop, and Blues. I have words in some of my music, but then there are times when a song and its title speaks for itself and I leave the words up to the imagination of the listener. I feel that all songs don't need words or titles. My stage name is aCe. It stands for 'a Christian example' on good days, and just 'a Common example' any other time. :) I was born Gregory L. Campbell in Charleston, MO just off the banks of the Mississippi River. You would think to hear of songs twinged with broken levee blues, but not so. I have a vast array of listening pleasures from rock to hip-hop. Mostly, I am a soul musician/artist. Enough from me! Please, "let my music do the talking."

Story behind the song
Here in Okinawa-Japan, I was working on what was going to be my version of "You Are My Sunshine" when I got the news that my dear cousin had passed on to Glory. When I was back home in the states, Dewayne and I would often sing for many people's funerals and I was at a loss that I couldn't make it to his to sing him his farewell. So, I rush this track done, to email to my sister in the states so that she could burn it and play it at his funeral. This song was fabricated within 4 hours.
